God's Plan...Salvation

It's important that even young learners understand what God's Word says about what we must do to get to heaven.  While we do not earn our salvation because it is a gift, we must be obedient to the commands of God, which He communicates to us in the New Testament.

1. We must hear the word of God, which we do by reading His Word, studying the scriptures, and listening to sound lessons and preaching (Romans 10:17; John 8:32). 
2. When we hear His Word, we must believe it!  We must believe that Jesus is who He said He was and is!  Believe the Gospel message (Hebrews 11:6; John 20:31).
3. We must repent of our past sins.  We cannot expect to continue in a sinful way.  If something is wrong, we must turn from it.  Repentance is a change of mind that leads to a change in action.  (Luke 13:3; Acts 17:30)
4. Confess your faith in Jesus Christ (Romans 10:10; Matthew 10:32). 
5. Be baptized for the remission of your sins.  (Galatians 3:27; Mark 16:16; Acts 2:38).
6. After you are baptized and are thus added to His church (Acts 2:47), you must be faithful unto death (Revelation 2:10).
